Warm up Gem

So far my new warm up is feeling good. I Have been working with a group on a game so my time has been limited but I just made a new schedule so I can start streaming again. When I was streaming me doing art I felt a sense of responsibility to the few people watching, to show them something great and to get it done. So starting today at 10 pm to 1 or 2 Am I will be on Twitch doing some art. Now hopefully I can stick to that schedule and still get my other responsibility done.

Again Thank you all that have followed me on Twitch and who have been reading my blog. Both are to get my self out there and to get feedback and so far you guys have been great cheers.

Edit: I forgot to mention I was locked out of my Twitch account so I cant start streaming until Twitch support contacts me back shouldn't be to long ill post when im able to get back on. cheers.

New warm up method..

So usually I warm up with a 20 min sculpt. I start with a ball and it can turn into anything, its just to get my brain working. After a good week of thinking I've decided to push my warm ups just a little further and to start cataloging them. Now I will sculpt, then render and paint over. I believe this will not just help me wake up and get in the right mind set, but to help me push my shapes, textures and concept art. Number 1.

Some of these ill do in a couple of days but having more content to put up on my blog is really neat. I am having a lot of fun with this blog and I've already seen my art grow from some of the earlier post. It gives me a big boost of confidence, as an artist its hard to tell when you grow and this blog visually shows me. For those of you who come by and read these I hope you enjoy the blog and thank you for the support.

Edit: Quick note I received a email from unreal and we are moving to the next step for my textures I put on the market place. This dose not mean its been accepted but the fact it passed the first stage is very exciting.

Finishes unreal market place

I took my 9 favorite textures and pushed them as far as i could. i turned them into unreal marketplace last night. this is my first unreal market place item so i'm fairly nervous but i hope this become a regular thing where i can place materials for people to make there games. Next on my list is to work on a boat scene in the sky and maybe some material tutorials on my youtube.

I put vertex painting on for material break up. this way my tilable textures can be used in many different ways.

Working on materials and a scene

Hello, I have been having a bunch of fun working with a group on a game. On my free time though I have been finding my self working on materials and a fun scene that has been in my brain for a while. all of these are WIPs but I use this blog to keep me on track and because I have a memory problem from an injury over seas this also helps me see things I have tried and maybe forgotten. I was making a bridge scene for the journey art contest but with my freelance work my time was limited so I dropped the project and used the cliff texture in my materials for unreal. It seems that some of the professionals in my group are on crunch on there jobs so this gives me some time to finish these materials and post them.

Here is the first pass of the scene, this is pretty bare and basic but its the start of a really neat scene Ive been thinking off. in the back i want a rock with a dangled rope. The clouds, I hate to be honest but the swirly design I think works well just need to remodel and texture these maybe just a retexture. The boat itself was originally going to be what you see but im heading back to the silhouettes to get a really fun design. I feel like it should steal all of the attention and as of now it dosnt. So we will see how this goes

I will do better on my blog and start up twitch again it seems doing these force me to do more work then I usually put in and I think its a great tool to meet new like minded people.

Final Cliff Texture

Welp I did not post the past couple of days because I have the opportunity to work in a group on another project and I have been having crazy issues with unreal 4 and tessellation. For the Art Station contest there is no limitations so I wanted to use tessellation with a baked height map but sadly it would flicker like crazy. After a couple of days of playing around I was able to get it to work but only a little bit. Its not really worth it so I decided to sculpt the terrain instead. I Still have not painted over the rock but I am really happy how they baked out. I am going to make the waterfall then work on the ground terrain and add some individual rocks. After that is all finish the scene should look really nice and I can focus on painting and putting more design on the bridge.

Gem Sword

Before I start working I have to warm up. I usually start with a grey scale in Photoshop and dont really finish its just to get my mind spinning. A little bit ago I was really enjoying what I was drawing and decided to just keep going with it. This sword is the end product, I had a lot of fun making this from concept to finish.
